The University of California in Santa Barbara, California, a place where natural beauty meets intellectual vitality, offers an exceptional educational experience at one of the top research schools in the nation. Students have access to a rich array of cultural, social and academic events through the school’s linked, close-knit community. Off campus, students may participate in social work and civic engagement in the nearby Isla Vista or take in the history, arts and environment of Santa Barbara. Student life at UC Santa Barbara is full of social, recreational and leadership opportunities. A number of Greek life fraternities and sororities are available, as well as breadth of student clubs and organizations. It’s easy to become involved on campus, as events are always happening. Academics offered at the school include many undergraduate degrees in three different colleges: Creative Studies, Engineering and Arts and Letters. A wide variety of graduate programs are also available, including degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Education, Religious Studies, Sociology and more. Professional programs are offered through the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management and Gevirtz Graduate School of Education. Admissions do not require students to send in additional materials until the school requests them from admitted students. Fee waivers may be granted to eligible students due to household size and family income. California residents can enjoy reduced tuition rates. The university awards scholarships to the top two percent of admitted students who demonstrate academic achievement and need. Other forms of financial aid include state and federal grants, loans and work-study programs.
