Instructure makes software that makes smarter people. It all started with Canvas in 2011 and the goal to make teaching and learning a lot easier. In 2015, we launched Bridge, which aims to change the way you (and, more importantly, your employees) think about employee engagement and corporate training. Today, more than 1,600 universities, school districts and institutions around the world use (and love) our products. We’re out to make the world smarter with better software because we hate mediocre technology as much as you do. Probably more. OK, yeah, we hate it more.

Instructure is a technology company that is focused on providing cloud-based learning management software for educational institutions, companies and other organizations. Founded in 2008 by two computer science graduate students, Instructure set out to disrupt the complex legacy learning management system industry by creating Canvas - a simple, yet powerful software system that sets a new standard for open technology in education.

Instructure’s Canvas Network has offered more than 300 courses from 150 institutional partners to date and was designed using feedback from instructional design groups at several universities including USC, UNLV, Berkeley, etc. A heavy emphasis was put on usability, with an effort to streamline the most common use cases for a learning management system. Canvas offers integration with other web services and provides simplified tools for grading and assessment.

In September 2013 the company partnered with AMC and the University of California, Irvine to provide an unprecedented MOOC that used popular television show “The Walking Dead” as its primary textbook. This course had 65,000 enrollees worldwide.

As of December 2014, Instructure and its 500+ employees serviced 14 million teachers and students at more than 1,000 institutions worldwide with Canvas. In May 2014, Instructure launched Canvas Catalog, a white-label platform that enables any institution, government entity, university or K-12 school to create a branded index of online courses. Instructure also recently introduced a new platform called Canvas Commons, a learning object repository that integrates into the Canvas LMS environment.

Because learning doesn’t end after graduation, Instructure also offers Bridge, the modern learning and engagement platform that enables organizations of every kind to engage with employees by measuring and improving employee sentiment, alignment and knowledge in real time.
