We the officers and firefighters of the Murphy Fire Rescue Department are committed to providing the best possible fire and emergency services to the citizens and vistors of the City of Murphy through a proactive approach to fire prevention, emergency medcial services, and rescue and to be the benchmark by which other departments measure themselves by. The Murphy Fire Rescue Department is a full s ervice municipally supported organization. Our current ISO rating for insurance purposes is 4. We respond to over 400 emergency calls for service each year. There has been a steady activity increase of approximately 25-35% each year since 2000. Fire loss has been held to minimal levels despite the addition of several hundred new buildings, partly due to inspections and enforcement. The department added staff and equipment throughout the year to better serve the community. Construction is in progress for a new fire station as part of the city municipal complex. The department is staffed by 5 Full-time firefighters, 16 part-time paid firefighters, and 20 volunteer firefighters. All paid personnel are certified firefighters through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) and most of the volunteers are certified by the TCFP or the State Fireman's and Fire Marshal 's Association. Most members are Paramedics or Emergency Medical Technicians.
