NRM South Profile and History

NRM South is currently providing support to farmers through the Australian Government's Carbon Farming Futures Extension and Outreach program. The program supports farmers to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in areas such as soil management (carbon storage), water and energy use efficiency, nutrient use efficiency, livestock nutrition and optimising feed quality. Extension officers are locate d in three regions across Tasmania (north, north-west and south) and are available to provide one-on-one support for farmers and/or to coordinate group events. Partners in the Tasmanian program include RMCG, NRM South, NRM North and Serve-Ag. The program is offered by statewide through its extension officers and is focused on working with farmers who are interested to improve their farms in a way that can increase productivity while also enabling the storage or carbon within soils.
